Also, you realize that even WITH private insurance, health care in the US is not affordable??

I could be in debt $10,000 even WITH my insurance in an emergency, and UBI would absolutely VANISH under that weight of debt.

It doesn't matter how fungible yoyr money is, thousands/tens of thousands of dollars of emergency debt will NULLIFY any UBI you receive.

I agree but would argue that the lack of universal healthcare is not an argument against UBI.

Money is ...well, fungible. UBI that enables me to afford healthcare allows me to spend the remainder on housing & food.

The problem is, in the US, UBI is just more subsidy into for-profit health care businesses **without** some layer of universal healthcare.

In the US, we MUST install universal healthcare BEFORE we do UBI or we're just shoveling money into another monster.

I agree. Treating health care as a service that human beings require, rather than a tool for destroying people's lives in the name of corporate profit, is one of the most urgent needs in our rapidly disintegrating society.

Let's try to actually get one of those universal health care models implemented, rather than insisting that only one of those models, one that cannot actually be implemented, is the only one that will suffice.

Even if we have health insurance through our jobs, it still sucks. We end up paying 10-20% of our paycheck towards our share of the premium, and still have big deductibles and copays on top of that .
