I've read about medicine shortages but was blissfully unaffected until now. I'm allergic to penicillin so for me antibiotic choices are already limited.

It took multiple phonecalls to the doctor, two visits to the pharmacy, one of which took half an hour debating substitutions, just to fill the prescription for one of the most common non-penicillin antibiotics.

HPRA currently lists 248(!!) medicines in shortage.

Germany suffers from an enormous shortage of medicines, as manufacturers are forced to produce as cheaply as possible. No wonder that they've outsourced their production to China or stopped production completely. Broken supply chains and newest Covid outbreaks in China worsen the situation.
