Must have been strange for the early medieval Irish all the same, being told about a religion the main festival of which was Pascha, by two guys called Palladius and Patrick, when they didn't have the "p" sound in Old Irish. Hence, 'Cáisc'.

The launch of ‘Searching for Thaddeus’ will occur in Rosscarbery Cathedral, on 8 December at 8pm. Thaddeus McCarthy was a 15th century bishop. He led a remarkable life, and he was beatified in 1895. In ‘Searching for Thaddeus’, art historian Patricia Curtin-Kelly tells his story, and discusses the many works of art dedicated to him. At the launch the author will give an illustrated talk. My postdoc looked at Irishmen in the #FrenchArmy (the #IrishBrigade or #WildGeese). Doing my MSc during lockdown meant that I wrote an entire thesis on #earlymedieval E-ware ceramics (and made replicas) without ever having seen one in-person. A month after submitting my thesis, I finally tracked some down- talk about a celebrity sighting! 😍
