St Mary's Church, Reculver
Currently encased in scaffolding.
Founded in the C7th, incorporating stone & tiles from the Roman fort in which it sits. The towers were a C12th addition.
Coastal erosion meant the building was almost completely demolished in 1809 πŸ“· AH

Doing well! A wonderful : a waterlogged castle well on the R581 Doneraile to Newtwopothouse Road Realignment produced a leather strap for us in 2011. Conservation revealed a circa 14th-century high-status horse harness decorated with gilded studs emblazoned with rampant lions in sinister 🐴🦁
