They went right to the point, giving a likely plane number as RA-02795, plus background of #Wagner's ride towards moZcow exactly 2 months ago. I've recorded an IQ file of #mediumwave band at 2000z yesterday, a few hours after that Wagnerite plane had crashed, but before #Prigozhin's death wasn't comfirmed yet.

Specifically, I wanted to check what the naZi ruZZian #propaganda stations had to say.

So, radio roZZii "news" had a "business jet" crash as a 2nd item, 'cuz all hail on Putler, with a vague mention of Prigozhin inside, and NO mention of #Wagner.

Kobe & Osaka are among the largest cities to be affected by #Lan, so attached is a list of some of the strongest #mediumwave signals in the area. I'd pay particular attention to NHK Radio 1 on 666 kHz, callsign JOBK, and local opt-outs on it.

In autumn/fall & winter, my point of interest shifts even further down - to #longwave & #mediumwave bands.

Mediumwave or AM band is actually where the #radio as we know it began 100+ years ago. Lots of people like me got hooked to the hobby by scanning these bands late at night, finding stations from all over Europe of half of the US - and being surprised it works at night only! 🌃

1548 Saffron Green is actually a high-power tx (97.5kW) but it's highly directional - good signal in Spain but poor, no different to other <1-2kW UK stns, here in Poland. #mediumwave #mwdx

LOTS of #mediumwave closures to happen in the coming days in UK❗

Gold will cease broadcasting from 4 of its 6 transmitters:
945 kHz Derby
999 kHz Nottingham
1332 kHz Peterborough
1557 kHz Northampton

which will leave just Manchester on 1458 & London on 1548 kHz.

Additionally, Smooth Radio Essex announces shutdown on 1431 kHz. 1359 Chelmsford licence also runs out so it may close too.

BBC Radio 4 begins a campaign to transition from #longwave to other platforms & channels❗

They're starting with discontinuing splitting schedules between LW & elsewhere in March 2024, and, undoubtedly, the goal is to SWITCH-OFF 198 kHz (& #mediumwave relays) completely at some point in future.

Good grief they mention some "HM Coastguard channels" interested folks could get Shipping Forecast from, when BBC would have it 2-3 times a day instead of 4 😆

Been a month or maybe a bit more since I reported a reactivation of Radio Romania Actualitati #mediumwave transmitter in Constanta on 1458 kHz... but since then, they did finally add that audio processor 🤠

In fact, the modulation on 1458 AM is now in line with other RRA freqs, particularly those "modernised" in recent months, such as 1152 kHz in Cluj-Napoca. Signal strength-wise, Constanta is a bit weaker than other transmitters, but that's to be expected due to distance.

War in Ukraine killed it. naZi ruZZia killed it. Through skyrocketing energy costs elsewhere.
