Was für Dich evtl. auch noch interessant sein könnte ist #SailfishOS von #Jolla .

Ich nutze es schon seit 9 Jahren (und immer noch) auf dem Smartphone. Das war (vorinstalliert) mein Einstieg in die Smartphone-Ära, vor 6 Jahren habe ich es dann zum ersten Mal selbst geflasht.

Das ist kommerziell, aber (nicht vollständig) OpenSource und stammt von den ehemaligen #Nokia N9-Entwicklern, #Meego, #Meamo, die dann von Microsoft entlassen wurden.

Es basiert auf Linux statt Android, hat einen eigenen AppStore, aber auch eine Android-App-Unterstützung.

Das waren noch Zeiten, als ich einen Blog über MeeGo (ein Betriebsystem von Nokia - nach Symbian oder vorm Umstieg auf Windows Phone) herausgab. Hatte drei Monaten nach dem Start schon fast 400.000 Besucher monatlich. Eine wunderschöne Erinnerung :-)

I've been a huge #Nokia fan for many years. I still use the Nokia E72 and love the experience. And in 2010 I heard about the #MeeGo project. And I also know the whole further history of Nokia. I was a Nokia #Lumia920 user with #WindowsPhone 8.1. But a couple of years ago, I heard about #SailfishOS. And this project is very interesting for me, but all my devices are not supported. And maybe later, but I'm interested in creating of a mobile application for #Fediverse services on their platform.

The Nokia N9 are fully stock again!

After having used #Symbian and #Harmattan and #WindowsPhone OSes as daily drivers, I was pretty much forced to choose #Android or #iOS at this point, but I did get a #Jolla smartphone to keep one foot in the non-mainstream OS space. Jolla's #SailfishOS was a direct descendent of #Maemo / #Nokia #MeeGo and #Harmattan. It had some fairly limited Android application support, but modern life and things like #BankID, online banking, etc, simply wouldn't run. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jolla_(smartphone)

The ad for the #GalaxyZFlip4 is in heavy rotation in #bioreklam, which has been making me consider the whole #iPhone vs #android conundrum. Over the years I’ve had both, but I’ve also had others - and I mean in the #smartphone era. I have a non-mainstream phone now which I’ll get to talking about later, but my first alt-phone was a #NokiaN9 that ran #Harmattan which was an offshoot of #Maemo and/or #MeeGo Linux. @burnthekernel I agree leaving #Emacs feels bad especially if you use #Exwm. However Krunner already works quite well as a #KDE #Plasma user, it should work as well anywhere else.
The only issue with that is Krunner results don't exist in Helm and vice-versa. It would be great to bridge both.
The #Jolla 1 was great. The #Nokia N900 was to late for me, I got the N9 instead I would have loved to get #N950 for the keyboard. #Meego was great.

I asked myself: Is the #Nokia N9 with #MeeGo still useable?
Sure, if you want something for music (hell! get the 64gb version if you can!), (outdated) navigation/maps, calls, simple instant messageing (Telegram, XMPP, SMS). With mails, calDAV and Web in general,.. well, it depends on the server. Since MeeGo doesn't support TLSv1.3 it could be difficult to connect to modern servers.
I really like this small little device! We need a modern phone in this size (with a lean OS!). @PINE64 ?! :)
