@emi
> I'm wondering if there is a place where we can keep feedback about what folks (especially those who are sympathetic and aware of the issue) are finding challenging about switching off of zoom? I would love to have somewhere to compile the reasons I hear.
I'd be happy to open a thread in #meetcoop forum.meet.coop. This is a matter of concern for us, surely.
But - you're in our forum. So maybe you could spin up the conversation there? Anybody can view & contribute.

Interested in handbook-style documentation for a platform coop or digital commons?

Comments on gitBook, Obsidian, Discourse as handbook containers.
meet.coop The Online Meeting Coop is developing a federated relationship with WebTV.coop Montreal. The handbook is intended to support the operational relationship (via protocols) and the ongoing commons-cooperative mission of meet.coop (via mission, vision & principles).

Followers of #meetcoop may know the online meeting cooperative is in evolution, and won't continue as it is now.
Changes may be positive. In any case there's a lot of lessons to be drawn for the #platformcoop and coop-commons ecosystem
Read here an interview from our friends at CommonsNetwork: @ThomasDamsko

Always find it interesting when someone refuses to even considering trying to use an #opensource or decentralized alternative and insists we use the dominant big #tech platform.
In this case, #Zoom rather than #meetcoop (which uses #BigBlueButton)
Why are some people so resistant to using new tools/platforms?

Update on #meetcoop evolution
Good news! Conversations are underway between members of the meet.coop board and representatives of WebTV.coop regarding the transfer of hosting and sys admin for the meet.coop BigBlueButton instance to WebTV.
WebTV has expressed commitment to the mission and continuing operation of meet.coop and to ensuring a seamless continuity of service to users.

Still looking for a self-hosted handbook documentation container for #meetcoop, to replace gitBook. What's admin like on MKdocs?

Crowdsourcing 💚
#meetcoop is evolving and as an element of this project we believe it’s important if we can to accumulate & propgate some understanding

Are there folks out-here in the broad community with methodological nous and some flexible time, to help us create & carry out an appropriate community learning project? Contributing some gift work to meet.coop’s mission of #formación of movement capability 🙌🔥
Love & solidarity

This topic might come up for some attention soon in a short series of #meetcoop #commonshour. Under the rubric of federated infrastructure of digital means in the commons. Watch this space 😳. See this for now https://social.coop/@mike_hales/109931986056084344
#federating across digital #infrastructure in the #commons? Thread opened in #meetcoop forum as a potential dimension of meet coop evolution

#federation as an evolutionary move for #meetcoop?
There's a #commonshour presentation (in BigBlueButton of course - the only FLOSS meeting platform where you can do this kind of recording, animation and interactive playback). Here

Good timing alongside the remaking/evolving of #meetcoop :+1: I,ll read & use, probably not comment. Except . . makes me aware of differences between coops & commons. Appears in terms like ‘capital’, and the basic framing in terms of ownership. No ownership in commons! Rather, stewardship. Stewardship shifts Coop Principle #1 from open and voluntary membership to in some sense mandatory. A commons is not a free market! Reflects mutual & general dependence on the stuff of a commons.
@wjmalik I would also argue that anything that has those kinds of cost structures is not the appropriate value proposition for a general purpose community owned cooperative to provide.
See: #MeetCoop, which tried to provide video hosting, and is shutting down because the cost-basis of highly available video infrastructure is too high at the moment.
Again, not saying that there aren't places where $2M is the right budget; but those value propositions are high risk and unlikely to be viable.
#meetcoop is beginning an Evolution project, migrating BigBlueButton platform and multistakeholder membership to another coop host. For background and framework see
https://forum.meet.coop/t/evolution-of-meet-coop-background-and-framework/1292
Check out the forum threads and do chip in?
Especially - if you have learning points for us from your User experience (or things you're curious to know) there's a learning & legacy dimension which may take over some aspects of #commonshour

I enjoy signing in to #MeetCoop. I also enjoy Jitsi. What if we kept the Meet.Coop "brand" and used it for both Jitsi and BBB instances, jointly hosted/managed by @mayfirst and Social.Coop and perhaps others?

Public reflections commencing @ #meetcoop forum https://forum.meet.coop/t/changes-coming-to-meet-coop-discussion/1288/4
Yes thanks @dcwalk :) #meetcoop isn’t done yet though. We now have an evolution project, 6-9 months long, where we migrate our platform and user community (hopefully both) to another (hopefullyj multistakeholder coop home.
Systematically doing the learning, and putting it into the commons, is part of the project. Watch this space, more to post in our forum very soon as we get into gear with all these commitments. For now, see https://forum.meet.coop/t/changes-coming-to-meet-coop-please-read/1287
Thanks @dcwalk for the kind words! It certainly has been a wonderful learning experience, transformative, many would say.
#meetcoop A 3 years ride with some 200 contributing collectives, from diverse social movements mostly in Europe and North America. Produced by an operational coalition of between 5-10 coops incl people like @andia @mike_hales @Graham_Mitchell @dvdjaco @oli And a wider supporting group of stewards like @Matt_Noyes @fredsultan
