"There's a thing I call "winter catastrophism" where every temperature drop & snow fall is the subject of disaster talk. It's not a good thing. Better is to put on proper winter clothes and go outside. At 6:30am along #Meewasin Trail out with the dog, saw 6 cyclists & 8 people walking. These people get it. Cheery hellos, and I know they were smiling like me. Being active and cheerful is a state of mind for all weather."

One of those perfect sunny #winter days -5 to -10°C when I didn't know where and how long I was going until it happened.

One cyclist every 20-30 seconds between 7 and 8am on #Meewasin Trail in #Saskatoon between 33rd Street and University Bridge. 3-4x more than between 6 and 7am. Two days this week.
Not controlled for temperature.

-16°C for the 6-7am day

Yes absolutely. I also think #Saskatoon needs to connect as much as possible to the #Meewasin trail network. Any day you can bike through a linear park (where you can hear chickadees sing) en route to work, school, shopping, etc is a good day. We can bike from #HolidayPark on the SW edge of #YXE all across town, past the zoo & to the swale on the NE edge of town almost completely separate from cars. No headlight glare, no splashing etc. We need to expand on that success!

Yes, we've been to weddings, banquets, AGMs, job interviews, parties, etc by bike. I wouldn't want to arrive in mud splattered rain-gear at something formal. It's not like the (fendered) bike is doing the splattering. This is why we prefer destinations (weddings, parties, job offers, etc) close to the #Meewasin Trail System.

Yesterday & this morning were both quite pleasant in #yxe #saskatoon. Not much wind. Clean white #snow, #Meewasin Trail finally plowed.
I've been tweeting the city which does respond re #walking & #cycling issues re slowness to clear. Rant: And the train bridge at 33rd St at the weir which they blocked off for repair without any signage up and down Spadina and elsewhere.
