So I get what they're saying -- it's unlikely that Inmarsat and Viasat can survive in the market without consolidation, bc SpaceX/OneWeb/Amazon are going to make small cos unviable

But... That's exactly the thing the person they're QTing is saying! Having only a few viable firms, where small players have to consolidate to have a shot? Literally oligopoly.

Europe has officially announced that it intends to build a new satellite constellation. No details on number of sats, altitude etc, but to be a mix of LEO and MEO orbits, aimed at providing service to Europe and Africa.
