350000 years ago, just beyond the western edge of the icy , has come to the steppe. A raven flies over a group of steppe mammoths enjoying a cold bath in the Oos river, while a grazes on some choice plants growing on the riverbanks. With the harsh winter in retreat for a few months, a flock of greylag geese migrates north, a buzzard hunts, and a small pack of wolves watch a herd of steppe and some roe deer.

@lzvolk @serpenillus Coincidentally, I saw two of them at the natural history museum in Paris yesterday. I'd put them at about 1.8 metres shoulder height. (They're on a pedestal so they do look even bigger)

Concept sketch of a big Megaloceros giganteus buck during a Middle Pleistocene morning in Europe. A few Aythya ducks fly in the background

Patron James Pacoe suggested Megaloceros as a taxon for me to sketch. You can suggest a taxon for me to sketch every three months if you are a patron in the Deinonychus of upper tiers.

I hope you like this sketch. I don’t get to reconstruct cervids that often

really interesting (though sadly unfinished) read on object capabilities with some good examples of how that might look in the wild. I think I'll do something with for

So something I didn't realize is that the crate for is actually the *entirety* of surrealdb, meaning that if you write an application with it you don't need any external connections, a bit like SQLite or something

This gave me the idea that my server (which I have dubbed ) should be as self contained as possible, requiring only the server binary and a few environment variables to get running without the need for a postgres server or anything else except a reverse proxy cus TLS is scary

If you want to track my (lack of) progress, the repo lives at gitea.greenboi.me/emerald/mega
