@histodons a few cool pictures I found trolling the Wikipedia entry for the Battle of Port Arthur
(The Battle of Port Arthur was the opening engagement of the Russo-Japanese War. Basically Japan was worried that Russia threatened its influence in the Far East. Late night in Feb of 1904 a Japanese fleet snuck up on the Russian fleet anchored at Port Arthur -a port leased to Russia by China- and engaged them in naval combat. The Russian Navy succefully drove Japan off the battlefield, although Russia sustained heavy causalities)

also tagging @worldwarshistory since this conflict was a precursor to WWI.

In my position at the Hensanjo, I am also a member of a team working on an English version of the Ishin Shiryo Koyo Database 維新史料綱要データベース, a day by day chronology listing of short summaries of "key events" leading up to and immediately following the Meiji Restoration.

Edo Castle was a large castle built by the Tokugawa family in 17th-century Japan. It served as their seat of government for more than 260 years. After the Meiji Restoration of 1868, Edo became the capital of Japan and was renamed Tokyo. Edo Castle became the residence of the imperial family and was renamed the Imperial Palace. worldhistory.org/Edo_Castle/?u

‪I wrote the report of the Meiji Restoration.‬
‪But It’s difficult to write easily.‬
‪There is a book named “The Wrong Named The Meiji Restoration”.‬
‪But I don’t know whether the Meiji Restoration have been wrong or not.‬
