The Damned Don’t Cry (1950), a delightfully overheated noir-tinged Joan Crawford melodrama. She becomes a fashion model and naturally winds up as a gangster's moll. A fine movie although Crawford was fifteen years too old for the part.

The court's staff is still there. There's still a #stenographer. There might be #sketch artists. (I don't know.)

Madonna of the Seven Moons is a 1945 British Gainsborough melodrama but melodrama is hardly an adequate word to describe this truly bizarre film. It's beyond mere melodrama. Over-the-top, outrageously excessive, a delight from start to finish.

Oh, right: The head of the nation distrusts that the MC can make the enemy into an ally, suspects the MC's plan will require the MC to infiltrate and likely wage a war, and—knowing the politics—the ruler insists the MC should have the child to make it all work
Which... presupposes she's actually pregnant. And whether to ensure it's true.
Incidentally, the two guys like each other.

All That Heaven Allows (1955), a glorious melodrama directed by Douglas Sirk and produced by Ross Hunter. Middle-aged widow Jane Wyman falls in love with her gardener (Rock Hudson).
Melodrama has always been despised by critics but I enjoy it, and this one has class.

I really like this record and Lesley Gore. I even got the original one. Lesley is 17 and every song is about crying. By the way, Lesley Gore was the most successful artist of the 60s. The backing band was Quincy Jones. In the 60s, there was with the hippies even once such an arrogant generation as today thought they had eaten the wisdom with spoons. But they have done nothing that was not already long done.

Futures Vedettes AKA School for Love AKA Sweet Sixteen (1955) is an early Brigitte Bardot romantic melodrama co-written by Roger Vadim. There are a few comic touches but it’s always romance that takes centre stage. It can also be seen as a coming-of-age movie.
The main reason for seeing this movie today is of course Bardot. but it's a pretty good movie.
