@gubi Thanks for the info. I've just imported from #Mendeley and it looks like everything is there and the #Zotero citing plug-in works too, thanks for helping me escape from #EvilElsevier 😉

@Buxton_Vienna #Zotero imported all my #Mendeley library in few minutes without any problem, and discovered also one retracted item because it is integrated with retraction watch. Starred folder is not imported, so if you want to get it on Zotero just create a "favorites" collection in Mendeley before the import and put there all the starred items to see this collection migrated to Zotero.

@gubi How did this move from #Mendeley to #zotero work for you? I've been using Mendeley since 2012 (so long before it was bought by #elsevier !) but the cloud version and this new Mendeley Cite thing in Word are driving me nuts today. On #Mendeley: I remember back in the day when it was a cool and promising new reference manager. But #Elsevier destroyed it. Best example of that is their iPad app: it was so buggy it was unusable. They killed it saying it has "low usage". I mean yeah, I'm sure it had low usage lol but it wasn't due to low demand…

The more I research reference managers, the more I'm inclined to call this market "the sad state of reference managers"

- #ReadcubePapers: has a great recommendation feature, but the app is hideous and I've lost data three times already
- #Zotero: free and open, but the iPad app is really lacking and the deskop app is super clunky
- #Endnote: tried the iPad app, cannot automatically look up for the bibliographic metadata lol
- #Mendeley: lol

Whatever you do, don't use Evil #Elsevier's #Mendeley. Bad in principle, bad for privacy, will lock you in.
