On Aug 4 around noon I found my wife unconscious and in a seizure. Her temp, once she reached ER, was 104.9. She was unconscious for 6 days, in the hospital and rehab for 26 days. She has been home a little over a week and I am so grateful. The cause is thought to be bacterial meningitis, though no disease organism was never identified. #meningitis #seizure #lucky

I give thanks to the NHS today, on its 75th birthday. If it weren't for the NHS, I wouldn't be 39, I would most likely have died shortly after birth due to a heart defect.

My second son would have likely died of #Meningitis at 4 months old.

If it weren't for the NHS, I'd either be dead or in perpetual debt to repay the hospital bills.

I'm going to try & start reading #TheMistbornSaga by #BrandonSanderson again. I was in the middle of the second book when our son died. I've pretty much found it difficult to read for any length of time ever since. I even gave the books away. So, I will hold a little ceremony; candles, few jars, incense & a wee chat with my boy telling him what I'm going to try & do. It seems like the appropriate thing to do.
