Operaties aan een versleten #meniscus zijn in veruit de meeste gevallen zinloos. Voor alle groepen patiënten is #fysiotherapie nuttiger dan zo'n operatie. Dat concluderen onderzoekers van het Radboudumc in Nijmegen na #onderzoek.

Dit kan jaarlijks 11 tot 26 miljoen euro worden bespaard door te stoppen met onzinnige knieoperaties. Een van hun aanbevelingen is dat zorgverzekeraars moeten stoppen met het vergoeden van dit soort behandelingen in het buitenland.

Four years ago tonight, I was in the hospital after rupturing my patellar tendon at a fundraising basketball game on behalf of work. Two nights after surgery, I blacked out, fell, and tore all the ligaments connecting my shoulder and collarbone. Three surgeries later, and I still have 24/7 pain in both limbs.

I had mine 2.5 years ago. It was a slow recovery & then the beginning of Covid outbreaks complicated my PT regime.

Every so often, I feel like my whole knee is broken again, & not from doing anything in particular. It usually passes, but today's worse than usual & it throws me into almost instant depression.

Anyone out there in the #fediverse had #knee #surgery for #meniscus repair? & Over age 45?

Never heard of #Meniscus before tonight. Took a punt and bought their album here at the #Anathema #Sydney concert. Then they started playing. No regrets whatsoever 😁. Great set.

Heavy post-rock with (in my opinion) a bit of a sci-fi flavour.
