one of the foundational ideas I learned from doing #mensWork is to reject the label of "negative" emotions that's often attached to sadness, anger, fear, or shame. instead I try to meet these feelings as normal and healthy, let them just *be*, give them space to breathe and speak to me. it often leads toward insights & healing I didn't know I needed -- and that never would have happened if I kept the "bad" feeling at arm's length or tried to suppress it
I'm co-leading a free "intro to #MensWork" session next week and I gotta say, I'm flippin' stoked. This is not a lecture -- it's an interactive experience where my co-host & I get to make space for men to open up about some of the shit we're carrying around & feel into the possibility that we don't have to carry it alone.
We're approaching it a bit differently than last time & I can't wait for the surprises the men who show up will create. Will you be one of them?
you: smugly ragging on the collapse of corporate social media sites from the comfortably parasocial distance of your Mastodon account
me: yes, ok, doing that BUT AlSO inviting men to actually connect with our actual faces & hearts because it takes courage and vulnerability to create a network of true brotherhood and mutual support

this week in men's group: I've been trying to get in more exercise, so I asked one of the other members to send me a boost each time I report a successful workout. his messages are super doofy, like "yay, go you!" but they give me warm fuzzies and I'm staying more or less on track so 🥇🥳🙌
if you'd like to have more interactions like this in your life and "man" is one of your identities, you can join our winter '23 cohort here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/wholehearted-masculine-mens-group-winter-2023-registration-476766680977
".... it didn’t take much for man after man to access deep grief, rage, shame, brokenness, forgiveness, joy, or peace. There weren’t just tears, there were wracking sobs that came from the depths of the soul. There weren’t just shouts; there were screams of rage that came from generations of pain. Men grieved what they had lost and what they had done, what they had inflicted and what they had suffered."

I should probably post something about my podcast. I mean, no one is seeing this just yet, but, you know, just in case.
So. It's called The Bind. It's for men and the people who love them.
Episode 2 dropped on 11/24. It comes out on Thursdays.
Links to most platforms are in my bio.

I hear a lot of masculine-identified men struggling with the fact that many women have raised the bar on what's acceptable from a date, a lover, a husband. Some are blaming feminism. Guys, feminism is NOT the problem. The problem is that so many of use are afraid to step up to the plate and be the men we're capable of being.

Learning (again & again) to hold onto myself. This is a basic & an important skill for us to learn, and especially if we are masculine-identified men. Holding onto our selves, gently, with compassion, helps create a safer world for all of us. And especially the women, children, and non-masculine humans in our lives.

In this episode of the podcast, and in keeping with issues relevant to International Men's Day, we talk about women, men, sex. My guests are men's sex and relationship coaches Aumsong Troughton and Melissa Bloxham. The title, "I don't want to f*ck if I can't feel your love" (this was the second of several conversations on this topic)

I'm going to be posting a few of the most popular/important conversations I've had in this week after International Men's Day.
The most popular conversation was with coach Max Trombly, about "Men & Divorce." Not surprising. It's one of the most painful experiences we as men go through, and we're not very good at supporting each other, or asking for help as we go through it.
Men, let's change this.
