Very glad my mentor has gotten me into the habit of keeping weekly productivity logs this summer. This past week outside, forces have been generating a lot of stress & anxiety that have sapped my mental energy. I was feeling crappy about how the week went until I opened up my week 8 log, updated it, and saw that my feelings of creative failure were mostly false perception. Without realizing it, I met all of my goals for the week. 😊

So I'm taking Thursday and Friday off because of how fatigued I feel. I foresee this becoming a regular occurrence until I can find my way to another job because the Autistic burnout is getting stronger.

I wish I could find a mentor, especially for something like technical and/or UX writing. It seems everybody I reach out to is also burnt out.

Today I felt very sad, and lost. I am not so sure that what I'm currently doing - a PhD in complex systems - will be worthwhile.

I'm a bioinformatician (or well, I'd like to become one), but my mentors are not. I very often explain basic programming concepts to them.

I chose this laboratory mostly for love, as my bf has to stay here for work, and also because the people are pretty cool and chill.
