Anybody know how to get GPS working on the #Pinephone ? Running #SXMO from #PostmarketOS using #mepo , but honestly in over my head and don't know where to start with trying to get accurate location data...

i made a script to integrate my #geohashing expeditions with the #mepo #OSM viewer. you can view it at both the geohashing wiki or the mepo mailing list linked below. the script calculates the geohash and opens mepo with a pin at that day's hashpoint. if you are new to geohashing or want to give it a shot check out https://geohashing.site for more information.

@JustineSmithies Have you given #mepo a try already? I don't drive myself so I rarely need a map, but it's a great tool by Miles: http://mepo.milesalan.com/
@chrichri i've used #mepo for months, and i've been very satisfied with my navigation experience. you can search and route to POI through a variety of scripts and programs, and it is compatible with both mobile and desktop linux (with support for both touch-based input and keyboard bindings). as it approaches completion of milestone 5/6, it's getting closer to a 1.0 release. mepo is scriptable, lightweight, and robustly supports offline usage. i'd recommend giving it a shot!

@linmob glad to see #Mepo added to that list. as a real-world example of it's features I used it the other day to find where my doctor's office was located (i thought i had pink eye, they prescribed me Zertec and sent me on my merry way). the navigation feature was very useful. but halfway through my 15 minute walk there, i ran out of my monthly data. i don't have unlimited service. mepo's offline tiles were super helpful and i could make it to my appointment on time.
#mepo maps has been updated to 0.4.1 in the Arch User Repository, give it a try if you use #archlinux! it's a fantastic osm viewer for mobile and desktops made by Miles Alan.

with the 0.4 release of #mepo maps, using it on my #pinephone is a delight! just used it to find an ice cream shop near me, and i can't wait to head there tomorrow. the improved gestures and #sxmo support make it more usable on mobile linux devices. thanks Miles for creating such a great piece of software, i can't wait to see what 0.5 and beyond hold!
