Sad to see it end like that for #Cav, but I like a tie for the record of most stage wins of #LeTour. Mark #Cavendish is the best sprinter in the history of road racing, zero doubt.
Eddy #Merckx, the best rider ever, did it in multiple ways. That’s harder still.
The tie, at 34, is an apt way for the two hugely gifted, riders to share the honor.
(The great Peter Sagan, three times a world champion, is the next active racer with 12 stage wins. He’s retiring this year, too.)
