Since 1992, U.S. GDP increased from $6.5T to $25.5T. Why would the @FTC & @TheJusticeDept want to take the back to the concentration thresholds from 30 years ago, when the economy looked vastly different?

New draft would take concentration thresholds back to 1992. Seismic shifts in the size & structure of the US economy should be a signal to regulators that competition rules should reflect the reality of modern market dynamics – not the economy of 30 years ago.

Turning back the clock on to match 1992 concentration thresholds completely ignores the impact of the multi-trillion dollar economy.

The @FTC & @TheJusticeDept are taking the U.S. back in time. rules should be based on the current economic ecosystem – not the economy of the late 20th century, which had yet to realize the benefits of the world’s most successful sector.

Meanwhile, , the and the are taking steps to halt the economic side of enshittification, publishing new that will ban the kind of anticompetitive merger that let Big Tech buy its way to glory:

The internet doesn't have to be enshittified, and it's not too late to disenshittify it.
