Five loaves of bread and six pies is a whole day's work. We're so blase about how easily we get our food. I reaped and ground no wheat, but used about seven pounds in this picture (and maybe three of sugar).

Also, the alchemy of eggs to meringue never ceases to amaze me. But after my confidence last post, my first meringue didn't set.

i made the Bûche de Noel this year!! lots of nerve-wracking firsts for me:

first #genoise, first #ganache (which separated and then got too hard when it set), first #swissroll (didn’t get much of a roll tbh) and first #meringue (unfortunately not pictured… it ultimately ended up fine but i didn’t have time to get the mushrooms assembled)
