Some sweet alyssum growing wild as a weed on the Merri Creek path. I found this in July 2012. The part of the Merri Creek path that it was growing along has not yet (even to this day) been properly rehabilitated and is full of introduced pest plants like roses, willows, peppercorn trees, prickly pears and hawthorn.

Merri-bek Council have an engagement on Merri Parklands from North Coburg to Fawkner. It includes on Nature Conservation, Connecting to Nature, Accessible park amenities, and Strong acknowledgement of traditional owners.

Consultation closes 5pm, Friday 20 January 2023.

Plans already include creating a #wetlands area at Moomba Park suitable for the endangered Growling Grass Frog.

Went for a walk along the Merri Creek today. Near the confluence with the Yarra, I spotted a couple of large lizards sunning themselves. They seemed pretty relaxed about me being getting closer gradually until I was within about two metres, and taking photos the whole time with my phone. It was in a fenced-off area with a gate that has a "No dogs" sign, so I guess they've learned to be relaxed about predators / people.

Can anyone help identify the species? My guess is some sort of Water Dragon. Absolutely gorgeous!
