First we stopped at Middleport pottery works along the Trent & Mersey.

Then we came across a carpenter-joiner and ordered a wall-mounted cabinet for my clothes, which will be built in a few months. (Ahem. Someone is tired of me keeping my clothes all over the bed, and I concede it looks slovenly.)

After a day of boating in the sun, it's dinner and dessert: salmon beans, cabbage salad, tossed salad, fruitcake, brandy, cheese.

It started with just four volunteers from a tiny Transition group and an idea to take over a disused, publicly owned farm for the community.

Now Greenslate Farm is home to a care farm, drug and alcohol recovery service, dozens of rescued animals, a strawbale cafe, farm shop, forest schools, nature rangers, a community project incubator and so much more...

Had an excellent time visiting the Liverpool to Birkenhead Queensway Mersey road tunnel. The visits are run by Merseytravel and cost £8 for a tour that lasts two hours. Highly recommended.
