I know it’s early, but not actually that early, so here’s a question: anyone interested in being part of a roundtable at #MESA2022 (using hashtag but I really mean 2023) about Middle Eastern Studies at SLACs/MSIs?
Meaning small schools that don’t have MES as a major.
Last year, I wrote a thread on Twitter about academic denial and revisionist accounts of the Simele massacre of 1933, an atrocity committed against #Assyrians that the state of @iraq denies to this day. Academic collaboration in this denial does continuing harm.
I am re-upping it now (and this is as much as I’ll say on social media; if you know me and are concerned with the reasons I’m re-upping this now, let’s talk). #Iraq #MESA2022 @histodons https://twitter.com/abshlimon/status/1367542756537561088?s=46&t=cdfUw362n1t1x-FIO91qSg
Although UNC Press is not attending #MESA2022 in person, you can always swing by our virtual booth! There you can browse our titles on display (available at our conference discount) and learn more about our Islamic Civilization and Muslim Networks Series.
