Trying some #photogrammetry on my #theremin with #Meshroom. Having a heck of a time getting it to work. Finally got the software installed correctly (version in #archlinux / #manjarolinux repos wasn't working, built from AUR instead). Then the #theremini was too shiny, so I had to cover it with painters tape. Still not getting a great mesh. Maybe drawing lines on the tape will help?

this will be done tomorrow in #uhd 4k if nothing gets in the way. it will be animated and moving... get into the mood for some deep #tunnel diving with a moody creepy soundtrack...

#Meshroom is a really nice tool for calculating photogrammetry from a group of photos. I was playing around with it and did this photoscan of a rock. On the screenshot you can see it imported in #Blender.

OMFG I regret listening to the video which said "do not touch the node graph, the defaults will be fine for most work flows" because one of the default options in #meshroom that you can only disable with advanced options enabled is "force CPU" under "FeatureExtraction" or more literally "go slow for no good reason" mode.

Are there any good #OpenSource #photogrammetry apps for #iOS / #macOS out there? I found #AliceVision #Meshroom https://alicevision.org/ but it's #Linux #Windows only...

Another #opencamera great feature, specially for #photogrammetry with programs as #meshroom: you can select a repeating mode and a time interval between them.

I used an upper limit of 500 shots and 0.5 seconds between them. I could take ~150 shots in 4 minutes, just focusing on what I was picturing instead of if I properly pressed some button.

I've been playing with #Meshroom on my always-on computer and had to run other errands, and left it "idle" for >1d in a closed room.

It turns out that "idle" CPU usage for Meshroom is ~400% CPU while "doing nothing" and reported total time of >160h, and the room was nicely heated up a few °C above other rooms.

I wonder how much this would cost me...

The model can be opened in #Blender but the author used #Metashape. Is #Meshroom a valid alternative?

On Meshroom can I apply a color on one side of an oyster, a second color on the other side and write a text on the inner side to create a 3D printable file directly (3 filaments)?
