Mesquite Dunes
Not far from Stovepipe Wells is Mesquite Flat Dunes. One of 5 sand dunes in Death Valley and the most accessible. The sand in these dunes is some of the finest sand that Because of this the hike can be strenuous.
I wasn't going to stop this time through the park but I was mesmerized by the quality of the light that was shinning on them. Mesquite Dunes Black and White
Mesquite Sand Dunes are the largest and most accessible dune in Death Valley. They are located just east of Stovepipe Wells.
A round trip hike out to the largest dune is a 2 mile out and back and takes about an hour and a half. This image was captured about halfway to the big dune, if you look carefully, you can see other hikers up on the ridges.
