@KirstiJylhae @mervaala @ORSI @ClimateSSN This article too was most thought-provoking, pointed out by @PKarPsto75 tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10.

I like the way you give the reader conceptual tools for evaluative analysis, and the idea of normativity of emotions is intriguing by itself. Reminded me of the Ethics of plato.stanford.edu/entries/eth, and of course several SEP-entries might be relevant, like moral sentimentalism, and normativity in

Feels awkward, but I'll make an post anyway, maybe I can find some folks to follow -

I'm a philosopher living in Jerusalem, and I also try to spend some of my time in activism, mainly but not exclusively anti-occupation/anti-apartheid activism.

My philosophy work is mainly in metaethics and philosophy of perception. I'm working on a co-written book on moral perception at the moment.

I also am trying to dabble a bit in making anarchism respectable in analytic political philosophy. I'm not an anarchist, but some of my best friends...etc.

Follow me for posts begging for help with philosophy, as well as Israel/Palestine stuff and some random leftist stuff. ok bye!

What do you call the metaethical position that says morality is an evolved trait that helps humans coordinate at scale, and so good/evil is to the group roughly what pain/pleasure is to the individual?

An action is seen as "good" to the extent that it is perceived to promote values within a given context of meaning-making.

An action is assessed as increasingly "moral" (right-in-principle) to the extent that it is perceived as (1) promoting values increasingly coherent over increasing context of meaning-making and (2) increasingly effective, in principle, over increasing scope of consequences.

Your mention of made my day!

I've been arguing for over twenty years (to anyone who would listen, and almost no one gets it) that the key to the perennial paradoxes of , , and —and fundamental to a coherent —is understanding the relationship of the observer to the observed, especially when the observer _is_ the observed.

Now I have some reading to catch up on.
