I'm kinda amazed that Mastodon Cloud still survives today.

After six years. After multiple ownership/management changes. After 'bloating-up' into a membership of more than 100,000 user accounts, continuing to be one of the top five most populated Fediverse server still in operation.

TO BE CLEAR: This is amazement, not disparagement.

I'm *almost*, almost unsure about whether it is mastodon.cloud or mstdn.id that would last longer.

('Last longer' in the sense of surviving technological & financial challenges, not disappearing in the next three to five years, etc.)

...but if push comes to shove, at least for today right this very moment, I think I'm still betting on mastodon.cloud on this.

(And Masto Social ahead of both ofc.)

A solution to the inability to add Mastodon/Fediverse accounts that you don't Follow into a list:

Subscribe to their public RSS feed using an RSS reader software, and then categorize them by list in said reader software.

Yes the list can break if they change their username, or if their instance died, or they defederate etc.,... but it's a workable workaround I think.
