I've been bringing back the ideas of web rings in the 1990s web world for the modern #openmetaverse as we begin to form rings with portals where we can walk between our web worlds easily with trusted links between our community members. It's early stage, but the #MetaTraversal portal crawls are an early template of how 3D web rings could work for the #WebXR communities

On that portal door @J12t our work on #MetaTraversal to imagine portals across 3D & WebXR worlds included many potential UX options for portal development, so I went on a hunt for video clips that do this well maybe 9 months ago. I still use a few of those clips in the backgrounds of my virtual calls. In our #opensource #XR testing of #openmetaverse connected worlds we successfully tested jumps across many 3D sites in a webring last week

Walked thru a wide variety of portals between worlds last week in #webXR demos testing a 10-world metaverse social jump with #MetaTraversal

Now to sort out the toughest parts of #UX #interoperability that came up during these load test challenges, especially how we can stay on the same page and in dialogue together

Excited by the progress of our #MetaTraversal collab, streaming together today as we jumped across portals on the open 3D web (WebXR) in a mix of VR, mobile AR & XR devices with desktop & mobile for testing.

Today's varied portal jumps had us leap from Hyperfy, JanusWeb, Hubs, FrameVR.io, VRLand.io, Croquet, Ethereal Engine, ImmersSpace and a networked A-Frame space -- many already network through portals to your other 2D & 3D worlds.
