oh apparently there is a here too, so here's my little buddy, a piece of nickel-iron that fell on Russia about a hundred years ago!

For , I present this fresh example of the Oum Dreyga meteorite.

On October 16, 2003, Moroccan soldiers witnessed a fireball over the Western Sahara. They recovered from the fall, which were analyzed and classified as H3-5 chondrites.

Example shown weighs 11 grams and is from the Galactic Stone & Ironworks Collection. Not for sale.

For and , I present the NWA 11273 .

NWA 11273 is a lunar feldspathic breccia that was blasted off the surface of the by an ancient asteroid impact.

The ejected material then fell to Earth as . Nomads in the Algerian Sahara recovered the meteorites, which were then analyzed by scientists at the University of Washington.

For , this is the pallasite.

Imilac were first recovered out of Chile's Atacama Desert in 1822. It is a type of meteorite that represents the core/mantle boundary of a large asteroid.

Specimen shown is a polished slice from the Galactic Stone & Ironworks Collection. Not for sale.

For , I present the NWA 791 .

NWA 791 is a L5 chondrite recovered out of the Moroccan Sahara in 2001.

The NASA Ames Vertical Gun research team used this meteorite as a test target for high speed projectiles to better understand the impact dynamics of asteroid-like materials.

This specimen is a 9-gram slice that resides in the Galactic Stone & Ironworks collection.

Some history for

In 1942, the legendary Harvey Nininger founded the American Meteorite Museum on the old Route 66 in Arizona.

It was the first such museum open to the public with a hands-on educational approach to meteorite science. It was open from 1942 to 1960. The remnants of the museum now stand as a desolate ruin.

Nininger's work was ground-breaking and he is considered the grandfather of modern and meteorite hunting.

For and , I present the Campo del Cielo iron .

Campo del Cielo originate from the Chaco province of Argentina. They have been known to indigenous peoples for centuries.

It was first analyzed by scientists in the 20th century and officially classified as a type IAB-MG, coarse octahedrite.

This fine example weighs approx. 11kg and is from the Galactic Stone & Ironworks collection. Not for sale.

For and , I present these stony chondrites.

These are unclassified recovered from the Moroccan Sahara.

All of them have similar characteristics : wind polished rinds of desert varnish, little fusion crust remaining, and high iron content.

They are likely H-type chondrites of the H5 or H6 variety : highly equilibrated with few chondrules and prolific metal flecks in the matrix.

From the Galactic Stone & Ironworks Collection. Not for sale.

For and , I present the Sericho meteorite.

Sericho is a type of stony-iron known as a . Sericho meteorites were first recovered near the village of Habaswein in Kenya in 2016.

Pallasites are composed of a nickel-iron matrix with scattered olivine (peridot) crystals, and they represent the core-mantle zone of a large asteroid.

This specimen has been sliced, stabilized, and made into a pendant.

For this is the La Criolla meteorite.

La Criolla fell near Concordia Argentina on Jan. 06, 1985. A brilliant fireball in the sky was followed by multiple detonations. Approx. 45kg of were recovered. Analysis revealed them to be L6 chondrites.

This specimen has fresh black fusion crust and weighs 62 grams. It is about the size of a small lemon. From the Galactic Stone & Ironworks Collection (not for sale).
