#meteorshowers occur when we pass through debris clouds crossing Earth's orbit. Often left behind after a #comet pass, more "spectacular" showers come from certain comets.
In particular, the annual November Leonid #meteor shower of Comet 55P/ Tempel-Tuttle gets 10-15 meteors/hr, and possible meteor storms every ~33 yrs. In 1833, viewers saw thousands of #shootingstars per MINUTE.

Leonid meteor captures seen last night and Tuesday night. 2 long exposure pictures per night as the hours between 5pm and 9pm seem to be rush hour traffic for airplanes and satellites.

Meteors = Short dashed lines, long straight solid lines or random dots.
Curved lines = stars and planets.
Dotted long lines = airplanes.

The Leonid meteor showers are visible now and are expected to peak on November 18 with 15 “shooting stars” an hour. Hoping for clear skies here in Scotland.
