BBC News - UK scientists tackle the taboo subject of periods in polar research
bbc.co.uk/news/science-environ

Certainly, menstrual freedom should extend to all areas of Earth, but especially extreme and pristine environments like the Artics. However, as important as this issue is, every stakeholder in the pipeline should be as, if not more, concerned about . If methodology concerns itself with strict avoidance of the smallest chance of , then that same should concern itself with the freedoms of all practitioners in the environment in which operates, no? should not be tollerated anywhere, and the Artics are no exception. If you can't be responsible for your libido without being a , then you shouldn't go to the Artics. You should go to .

Yet another argument for more lead scientists and administrators. , as the educated elite, should be setting an example for others!

After a year of exploring the pitfalls of language, and I came back to 's witty 2019 paper "Post “Post-Truth”: Are We There Yet?". It's not without irony, as this poem, printed in her book, shows:

It looks like the Japanese 5S methodology basically says to put your kids (and their stepladders) into storage for a tidy house.

This seems perfectly cromulent to me!

The purpose of a literature review is to develop sharper and more insightful research questions, not to survey *all* that is known on a given topic (Yin 2018: 13)

Alright, there is much over in . While I embrace what offer, why are so many people going mad over the topic? I mean, I'm not a grandmaster in the field (I've been doing it for 15 yrs "only") & am pro , but what's wrong with using less tech?

Tech should be integrated to a degree & definitely taught about, but beyond that it will mostly get in the way. Effective has less to do with tech & all to do with .

Board games researchers are asked to specify what types of games they are studying, video games get a leeway. They get by even without specifying method's scope. For example, digital games research methods like think-aloud protocols are horribly unsuitable for the board games. Strategies are revealed. Heck, they are also unsuitable for analysing two players video games. Why is no clarification being made about the exact type of games they are studying?

Question about study, experimentation, methodology:

What if you can't generalize across an entire population? I'm wondering if categorizing populations can confound insight because there might be important differences between subpopulations that get homogenized and washed out.

I'm putting together an annotated bibliography on how to respectfully engage with marginalized populations in public health research. I'm particularly interested in learning how to approach populations who self-identify as , , , and/or . If any worthwhile resources spring to mind, I'd be grateful if you could point me at them.
