It’s surprising how few mechanical metronomes of decent design are made today. Wittner is unfortunately stuck in the past (sure, Piccolo is lovely, but the design is really showing its age). The only one I could find is Yamaha’s MP-90… which is not sold outside Japan?

Got some #PracticeTime 🎶 lined up. The #Metronome app for #GNOME that @FineFindus kindly took over from @KekunPlazas unfortunately isn’t quite there yet and I was still feeling the gap left since gtick became unavailable, until I recently found #GMetronome on #FlatHub. 🎉 It is still GTK 3, but its UI is great nonetheless and it has exactly the features I need. #HighlyRecommended

The Wittner Taktell Piccolo #metronome has existed for many decades with its current design, but I have been wondering exactly when this design was introduced and who the original designer was.

I grew up learning to play with my father's mahogany brown Piccolo, and I've owned my own black Piccolo for longer than I can remember, perhaps 25-30 years, now.

There's something really nostalgically appealing about the analogue clockwork pendulum. It is s truly iconic #design, a classic.

I have liked using the Boss DB-90 for my metronome practice on trombone. It gets loud enough that I can hear it pretty well without needing to use earphones. I really like the volume sliders as well. I’m trying to be more diligent about including the metronome during practice!

@errhead I just updated to the latest peertube which included #prosody by default, I was under the assumption this was an updated approach to the older plugin...but I haven't tried it, since it conflicts with my #metronome xmpp server
