"The service issued the kill order after 13 livestock carcasses were found.."

The whole story is that there were calves, in JANUARY, on public lands, that allegedly the wolves killed a full-grown healthy bull, and that these allotments have been a death trap for for years. Without the context, 's position here appears justified. With the context, it's same old, same old, sacrificing for the industry.

Grrr....

“The Service keeps this type of action under wraps until there’s already a dead wolf, limiting opportunities for meaningful discussions around conflict prevention or livestock management.“The public has a right to know when there are kill orders for endangered wildlife. Both and belong to the American public and shouldn’t be managed exclusively for the livestock industry.”

@nywolforg FWS also said it's not a big problem -- but those 11 examples are a significant subset of all of the cases that have ever been solved!

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service () has gotten a lot of mileage in the media for rejecting the petition to protect . They even put out their own press release, like they were gloating about their unwillingness to protect .

Wev. We're still here and we're not going to stop fighting to protect and recover .

Twenty-five years ago today, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service took the bold step of releasing into the wild, following decades of their absence from their native landscape. We're so glad they did!

Happy wild anniversary, !

"She was already contributing quite a bit. She was showing us where unbound wolves will wander. Her scent trails will beckon the expanding wolf population into places well-suited for the species to survive in a changing climate paradigm. She doesn’t need to breed to be a leader, we only need to let her choose her own fate and to learn from her path."

"Someday, and northern Rockies wolves will meet; ..." Anderson said. "They're worried about swamping their genes with the northern species, but at the same time they're not doing enough for the genetics down here to ensure the health and viability of the current population."

That's right. All this whinging about genetic vulnerability is the fault of the agencies!!

Heck yeah we want to let her roam! !

Anderson, from the Western Watersheds Project, says Asha shouldn’t be forced back. “We want to see wolves recovered on the landscape. We want to see them using the habitat that’s available to them.” The fact that Asha has made it to northern New Mexico might be a sign that the MWEPA needs to be expanded, Anderson adds.

Greta Anderson, the deputy director of Western Watersheds Project, authored the petition. ...
“We have no idea how many wolves are actually killed for the same reason but the suspect is never found or the wolf is never found or it wasn’t wearing a collar,” Anderson told NM Political Report in an interview on Monday.
