Generally, I don't comment on legislation taking place in a country other than my own. And I'm cognizant of the fact that Mental Health First Aid is administered separately in different countries.

But I think it's worth amplifying the voices of experts saying the secret part aloud.

As a certified MHFA instructor, I can say that there's merit to arguments made by both critics and advocates of MHFA. I recall seeing a LinkedIn poll about a year ago in which more than 70% of respondents said MHFA should be mandatory at #workplaces (which seems to be the point of debate in the UK — I haven't studied the legislation). This reflects naïveté about #MHFA and the #organizations selling it, and perhaps reflects well-meaning desperation regarding how to support the #mentalhealth of #workers.

@RegierungBW : Wie wäre es mit einem #SaferInternetDay mit kleinem #Cybersicherheitstraining alle 2 Jahre an jeder #Schule inkl. #Grundschule, nem #ErsteHilfe Kurs ab der 5. Klasse alle drei Jahre und einem #MHFA Kurs ab der 9. Klasse . Schaut mal nach MV Stichwort #Retten macht Schule.

2 weeks ago I did the #MHFA refresher course. Unlike with the original course, I now had to do an exam. I just did the exam and my MHFA certificate has officially been renewed for another 3 years!

Oooooh, my #MentalHealth first aid class registration has come through, and I'm so tempted to take a long lunch break to start the self-paced work. 💃🏾

(I'm staying healthily skeptical about whether the current #MHFA standards/teachings are good and ethical [not ableist, etc.], but I'm also very hopeful at the prospect of gaining some helpful tools in that space.)

OK, I underestimated how hard it would be to facilitate an online event storming session, but regardless of that I think the session went well.

It's good to see by the way that #MHFA now actually has a test to get your certificate. When I did my initial #MHFA course there was no test. If you were at all the sessions, you got your certificate.

Talking about The Black Dog, if you've not seen this, it's great, They showed it on my #MHFA course earlier this year and it opened a lot of eyes. Cool and often amusing animations as well.
