On July 18th, in a unanimous 11-0 vote, the Miami-Dade County Commission approved the Miami-Dade Heat Standard for Outdoor Workers on first reading, advancing it to the Community Health Committee for a public hearing. Once passed, this standard could become the country's first countywide heat standard for outdoor workers, protecting nearly 100,000 Miami-Dade outdoor workers in agriculture and construction with essentials like water, shade, and rest periods.

Yesterday morning, the Miami-Dade County Commissioners moved the vote over the fate of Miami-Dade's Pine Rocklands to Sept 19th after two hours of public comments! This gives us more time to rally together and amplify our voices in opposition to the proposed theme park that threatens to destroy this vital ecosystem and disrupt the lives of endangered wildlife.
