drummer was born 80 years ago today. His performances were the highlight for me of the recent tour. His solo albums are very underrated; this was recorded 20 years ago and still sounds like music from the future. youtu.be/PVjtKIMka8c?si=uRlWuF

No one on Earth makes like . In 2023, he's *still* channeling sounds from the future. He anticipated loops, trance, and a dozen other genres. Though is now retired, I hope he finds a way to keep doing his primordial thing. [📸 Jay Blakesberg]

I FULLY and COMPLETELY resonate with these words: "Mickey Hart : There is some kind of discernible pattern, a certain kind of repetitive motion. We could call it a groove, a feeling. And those are the kinds of things that we look for in resonance - that's what this is all about. When I play a rhythm I am trying to resonate with the things around me - not only myself, but the universe."

Mickey Hart (born Michael Steven Hartman, September 11, 1943) is an American percussionist. He is best known as one of the two drummers of the rock band Grateful Dead. He was a member of the Grateful Dead from September 1967 until February 1971, and again from October 1974 until their final show in July 1995. He and fellow Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann earned the nickname "the rhythm devils".

40 years ago today (but probably not) the 2nd of 4 work tapes from early 1983, & playing with an unfinished song called MOLLY DEE. but beyond their voices on the tape, it’s actually pretty confusing what’s happening. the song’s background reveals a fascinating window into intra-dead collaboration/experimentation circa 1983. (maybe a mixdown date, weir was touring europe between 1/26-2/4.) archive.org/details/gd83-01-31 [1/3]
