💔 I found so many small particles of what I suspect to be ship paint #microplastics and mesoplastics at the beach of #Duhnen, #WaddenSea! Irretrievable. And Dollyrope. We need to address these sources of #plastic pollution!

If the pyrolysis happens at >600C for >10 minutes, the resulting biochar will be free of #microplastics, #PFAs, pathogens, and pharmaceuticals - all of which could continue to be a problem when you just #compost sewer sludge.
And... the #phosphorous is retained in the biochar, meaning it'll be a fertilizer in addition to the other biochar benefits.

The Observer’s analysis suggests the freshwater habitats are most at threat because of a cocktail of pollution from agricultural runoff, sewage discharges and microplastics, as well as damaging human interventions such as dredging.
