In my research of biofilms and quorum sensing in B. subtilis, I mutated a gene involved in biofilm biogenesis and created these colonies with wildly branching tendrils that sense and avoid each other. I snapped some pics . Now, I admit I have made some art based on histological slides before, so I'm biased, but anyone else see art in these petri dishes?
