Now we've added flak clouds to our Invaders From Another World game. They increase in frequency with each successive level to obscure your view and make it harder to stay accurate.

Today on games development with 'Invaders From Another World' we added the level success condition. So destroy all the buildings and we can quickly land the UFO to finish the level.

I added a little impact effect when the blocks hit the floor. I tried a single cloud sprite initially but lots of little randomised circles with a random drift ended up looking more organic.

Now I have more experience with the Animator, I went back and updated the UI buttons so they slam (with a shockwave) when they are triggered. Also animated the level up notification a little differently.

I've put the old audio in. Its only 8-bit style beeps but feels okay for now. You can't hear it on the gif but I'm sure you trust me.

Small one today as I've been looking at other things but I've added a tutorial pointing finger to prompt players to press that first button and immediately understand how to play without using any words.

Added a subtle camera shake. And rising scores when a block is destroyed. And the game score in the corner also reacts as you score.

Got the first UI animation set up! Doesn't look much but now I understand how it works and can pretty it up later.
The less important, but more fun, bit is that a level up will now produce a blast which clears the screen of blocks. Rewarding!

Quickly snuck in a moment this morning to make the death explosion a bit more violent. It now takes out the blocks rather than just pushing them out of the way. Ka-boom!

We have gameplay, a game loop, a world and difficulty progression. So now we want player's to see a measure of how well they are doing...
Like a score!
We'll keep it simple for now, +5 for a block but each hit raises a multiplier.
