#horror365 - #mausoleum
The mausoleum lay in the garden. Carved, worn and mossy, now subsided, as though dropped and left. The earth reclaiming the bracken covered house of the dead. Susan lay within, his wife of half a century, beside forgotten generations. Susan wasn't there, Warren knew. Not any more. He couldn't let go. His home the same - damp and subsiding. He too soon to leave. The children had gone. But they couldn't let go. He, in his tomb soon forgotten.

A dead limb hung precariously outside Rebecca’s window. Despite the bitter cold and driving snow, she’d opened the window.
She rocked the #cradle, staring into the eyes of an infant son. The offspring was both familiar and familial.
The dead branch snapped and gave way, and she sang, without joy or remorse.
“Down will come baby, cradle and all.”

“Bartender, I need to get this little guy liquored up.”
“We don’t serve leopards or armadillos.”
“I’m an #ocelot. Can’t you help me out, I need this little guy pickled. I don’t wanna catch leprosy?”
“Sorry buddy, gotta go.”

"Change of course" Andrè barked across the bridge. "Twenty degrees to the left."
"That's not the way to the Hecaton Supercluster" Leena argued.
"No. It's an abandoned plutonium mine." He snapped, tapping his scanner. "Too good an opportunity to miss." Leena groaned.
"If I wanted to dig up rocks, I'd have become a space miner." She hissed, just loud enough for her colleague to hear. "Why can't we just buy fuel like everyone else?"

"Careful with that!" Andrè panicked. His sudden interruption startled Leena, she jolted, nearly throwin the plutonium rod she was holding across the room. She glared at him. Replacing the fuel in the nuclear fusion engine was a task that required total focus.
"Shut up, or I'll make you do it!" She scolded. It was an empty threat, and he knew it. She would never trust him with anything this important. He was useless at everything. except backseat driving.

Leena slumped into the sand.
"Let's go somewhere more exciting?" Andrè looked at her in disbelief.
"This is The lost city. The first human settlement. Who knows what could be lurking here?"
"Another dusty wall." Leena grumbled, kicking at the masonry behind her. There was a loud click. The wall began to move.
"What did you do?" Andrè started to panic. A secret door slid open, revealing a twelve foot robotic colossus.
"Awesome!" Leena grinned, stepping forward.

She hops into bed- tired after a long day. Her body begins to relax as she starts to wind her daily anxiety down. She is like a dead thing- rigid and #frozen. She smushes her face into the pillow and tries to think the silence away. A myriad of thoughts swirling is her peace. Someone leaps out from under the bed, yelling gaaah- monster under the bed! Monster under the bed! Her brother has upset her delicate nervous system one too many times..

Leena lent against a dusty wall.
"Why are we here again?" She whined. They were stood in the middle of a desert, Andrè was busy dusting sand off a pile of bricks.
"Stop complaining and help." He grumbled. "Command think this is one of the early sites of human colonization, so we've come to check it out." Leena groaned. He had pulled her away from Norag5's antique dirt bike rally for this?

Jason fell. Plummeting towards the ground. Wind whistled in his ears. The tarmac taunted him below. Racing up to kiss his pretty face. He closed his eyes, waiting for life to flash before them. An unwelcome mockery of worst moments. A montage of mistakes leading up to this fatal moment. Every muscle in his body tensed, bracing for the barrage of pain.
But nothing came.

Alyse never understood Naif's issue with the castle. It looked so pretty on Mt. Corvus, what harm could come from a closer look?
"Coward." she had thought as she scaled the mountain alone. Why did he have to believe everything the old folk said? It's not like any of them had ever been up to have a proper look at the place.
"His loss." She sighed, resting at the peak. The view from home was nothing compared to the sight before her. She couldn't wait to get inside.

@HansonOak I like the accumulation of small details in your #MicroFicton until bang! The crime noir reveal. The body parts of the antagonist #FemmeFatale in each of sharks is a particularly nice and gruesome detail. Well done!
Sailors scurried about the ship, flying overboard like rats in the face of the storm. Lightning flashed towards the mast, Sylla stepped forward arms raised. A wave swallowed the boat, diffusing the surge of electricity. Sylla emerged, she calmly lowered her arms and the storm obeyed.

Navigation, the first thing any cadet learns. Arguably the most important skill you could have aboard a ship, though plenty of engineers would argue otherwise. Navigation officers kept people alive, and Andre was the best Navigator In the Eurasian Starfleet. Unfortunately for him, that meant he'd been assigned to work with the best pilot. Leena Faerun. An adrenaline junkie with no regard for the safety of her crew of craft. A Navigator's nightmare.

Saffi winced. Brolen's face was different. His eyes were empty, his skin grey and cold. "Put the book down, it's killing you." She pleaded. Brolen stepped forward. "It's hungry." His voice held a sinister excitement that unnerved Saffi. A sickening grin flashed across Brolen's face. He lept forward, His fingers clawing at her arm. She turned to flee, but his grip had become unhumanly strong. "It has to absorb someone, and I won't let it take me."

Barkovia, heart of the Empire. A city built of gold, paved with marble, and studded in diamonds. The hub of the world, five thousand ships laden with silks and exotic spices docked every morning. Ten thousand camels carrying the finest goods the Empire had to offer arived every day. There was nothing you could not find in the Barkovian Bazaar. It was a place of untold possibilities. Seyoli grinned at the thirty foot high gates before him, this is where life begins.

"Oh, it's just a type of flower," said the wolf, adjusting his spectacles and hairpiece. "Now, may I come in?"
