I recently released a 12-word TTRPG as part of the 12-Word RPG Jam over on Itch. It's meant to be an ultra-ultra-lite structure for a game in any setting or style. Everything has 1000 pieces to spend (every character, faction, world, etc.) and every action costs something. Here's the whole game in one picture (I mean... it's only 12 words)! I saw there was a 12 word RPG jam on itch.io. I had an idea to use a line graph to fit some actual gameplay into 12 words. Kind of a bleak calculus vibe with a line graph doing the heavy lifting. I got in touch with the artist Plasmophage and she really, really ran with the idea. Even made a soundtrack! You can check it out on her itch page here:

Really excited to play Event Planning in Zero-G for the first time tonight from the excellent Ultimate Micro RPG book (collated by @OneShotRPG)

If anyone out there in the Fediverse needs a distraction this Friday, I could use some #inspiration for some weird and wacky alien species to include in the game, or a more unusual Sci-fi setting to keep it interesting.

It is strange. I have designed probably 30 #TTRPGs over the last decade, almost all microRPGs, and even the others are definitely still not full-sized games.

So my current #RPGDesign project feels very different. My #microRPG experience is helpful, but there's as much new work to be done as there is work I'm already familiar with.

I have added 30 community copies to my #TableTober 2022 #microRPG collection. Those are free copies available for anyone, and additional copies are added whenever someone purchases a copy of the game for the listed price.

Part of my problem in #RPGDesign right now is that I insist on creating a new set of mechanics for every game. Sometimes, those mechanics are similar, but I try to make sure they're never identical unless one game is a hack or sibling of another.

Since I make microRPGs, that usually isn't a big issue. A game usually only has one or two mechanics, so it's simple to focus on something new each time.

But with #TableTober, I have been trying to design a #MicroRPG every day. And I am feeling stuck.

I knew that I would not actually be able to write a #microRPG every single day in October, but I still didn't write as many as I'd hoped.
