My wife learned how to cook Middle Eastern food while in Israel from Palestinians 50 years ago. Lucky me, I get to eat her food! Tonight she took eggplants from our garden and made babaganoush along with lentil flatbreads and Israeli salad. So delicious.

Toasted Barley, Pistachio and Barberry Pilaf

Who doesn't love a grain pilaf? I adore this recipe because it has a smoky flavour from toasting the barley and the spices. It is nutty and delicious.

Yoghurt is a common accompaniment, and often we combine it with tahini, mint and chilli for a perfect dressing.
