My contribution for the #MiddleEasternMelodies theme for #VGMWednesday is stage 2 from Sparkster on Sega Genesis. It fits the bill for the desert/pyramid platformer level perfectly.

Weird fact about me - I recorded this soundtrack on cassette back in the day and on occasion listened to this time while going through Sandopolis in Sonic 3 & Knuckles

Woah, time for #VGMWednesday already! I picked Loom from Bomberman Hero. After a little research I found out it actually was a bonus track on the CD for the soundtrack and doesn't actually appear in the game at all!

Hello, people! The theme is #MiddleEasternMelodies and the first thing it sparked in my mind is the desert of Diablo 2 Act II.

A middle-eastern-ish ambiance that keeps you alert during your "pilgrimage" to the Tal Rasha's Chambers, fighting your way through giant insects and other critters.

I never owned a Nintendo 64 but some of my fondest gaming memories were playing Super Mario 64 in my neighbor's basement on summer days. Shifting Sand Land sticks out as a level we spent a lot of time in.

🎶 This weeks #VgmWednesday theme is #MiddleEasternMelodies and it's a difficult one - the middle east is still somewhat underrepresented in video games.

Frank Herbert's #Dune novels were heavily influenced by middle eastern, islamic culture and language and in the 1991 DOS game soundtrack Stéphane Picq mixed these influences with electronic music, resulting in one of the best game OST of its era.

@miona I'm not sure if this one counts, but this plays during the opening of Metal Gear Solid 4.

The lyrics are in Hebrew.

But the song kind of touches me in a way and the way it was used in the game just really set the tone for the world the game is set in.

This week’s #VGMWednesday theme is #MiddleEasternMelodies, and the one that springs to my mind is a little something from a legendary 1990s LucasArts adventure game: Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.

When I played the game back in the day, the sound came courtesy of a Sound Blaster 16. But if you were fancy, you piped your MIDI audio through a Roland MT-32, CM-32L, or SC-55 interface.

Not sure which of these was used in this recording, but damn, just listen!
