Can be applied to the #midwifery staffing crisis too. #Midwives leave for various reasons, inc working less as a midwife & more as obstetric nurse whose role is mainly overseeing obstetric interventions. & like GPs their work is diminished w/o a relationship based model of care

Midwives and nurses have different qualifications unless dual qualified. A midwife could act as a ward helper but not as a nurse - a midwife who acts as a nurse at the behest of their trust would probably lose their pin for practicing without qualifications. 40 k nurses short and counting… #NursingCrisis
