So, I just did a #migrate and it was relatively painless but it seems pretty inconvenient that you can't import and export posts, or even your bio, only followers, follows, blocks, mutes, and so on. This doesn't seem like an impossible thing to fix but maybe my non-techie opinion doesn't count for much.

Da ich die Tage was über den #MastodonMover gelesen hatte, habe ich das Tool mal ausprobiert. Denn: Bei der internen Umzugsroutine ziehen Posts/Bilder NICHT mit um.
Das hat gut geklappt, dauert aber ein Weilchen, trotz relativ weniger Beiträge. Wichtig: Erst MastodonMover, dann die interne Routine. Sonst geht das nicht.

Well, I am not thrilled about having to #migrate. I get the issues, but the timing sucks, and I sure wish it was possible just to keep the status quo. Not that anyone has asked for my .02...but since when has that ever stopped me from commenting?? 🙄 Stand by for migration antics fairly soon.

But wait, you cry. I just got here! Why are you telling me to #migrate straightaway? Is something wrong????

Technically, nope. Mastodon.social has operated smoothly for a long, long time. The owner of #Mastodon software has turned down buyouts. But others in the #Fediverse point out - if a server does get super-huge, they're a VERY tempting target.

So...just avoid making that server - or any server - a tempting target. When choosing a home server, look for userbases of 100 to 1,000.

@jon not just news, but any actual government service that citizens rely on for information.

It's just a matter of time before #musk starts deleting users and content that's inconvenient (and he kinda already did this).

The problem, unless there's a mass urging them to move to #mastodon, these organizations simply won't know to start their #twittermigration

If you've still got a #twitter account, it's probably time to sacrifice it and tell organizations you care about to #migrate.
