I finished book 50 which was Ernst Jünger's, "Storm of Steel", originally published as In Stahlgewittern (In Storms of Steel). This is a World War I memoir of a German infantry officer who fought throughout the entire war on the Western Front.
This book is a factual account of the war with no political or anti/pro war stance. This book talks about WWI as he saw it talking about the battles fought and the men he led, many who did not survive.

Just gave an interview on my research on #earlymodern #war and the #culturalhistory of #violence - relating war experiences of the past to those of the present. The horror of human suffering, excitement at the impression of (almost) real-time media coverage, the need to hedge escalatory dynamics - all these link the early modern to our (postmodern) experiences.
