We need to send another satellite to #Saturn! Maybe a rover too! #Enceladus may not be the only moon blasting ice into space (I suspect #Tethys & #Mimas as well, & maybe #Dione too).
Yes, we will have to visit #Titan again for obvious reasons, but we need to check out Saturn’s smaller moons too.

4 out of 5 #Uranus #moons likely to have #ocean under crust
A preview of what #UranusOrbiter and Probe might find in the 2040s
The #water is believed to be located between the core and icy crusts in oceans 30km deep for moons Ariel and #Umbriel, and less than 50m for #Titania and #Oberon.
It's not uncommon to find water in dwarf #planets and moons. For example, #dwarfplanets #Ceres and #Pluto, as well as #Saturn's moon #Mimas, have all shown evidence of liquid water.

Saturn's moon Mimas in IR+UV expanded spectrum. Processed using images taken by Cassini on November 19 2006.
The dataset for the second image has frustratingly eluded processing for years. Data just didn't line up at all. Finally took the time to build out a cylindrical map from the observation then reproject it back to a camera perspective like I do with JunoCam images.

Another ocean, maybe.
'Tracking the Evolution of an Ocean Within Mimas Using the Herschel Impact Basin'
"Cassini libration measurements are best explained by a present-day liquid ocean under an ice shell 24–31 km thick, a configuration that tidal heating can support. These unexpected findings have motivated further study of Mimas' surface geology to constrain its interior evolution."

But how much energy is transformed into heat? Why is #Saturn's other moon #Mimas not as #geologically active as its sister #Enceladus? What does this mean for #Earth?
These are all big questions and leads us to our final chapter of this thread. But first, I need to take a break and wash our dishes!
