He kept running into exactly this problem, the AI had been given input from an older documentation set and kept giving example code with an outdated API. (I'm assuming you saw it.)
I'm convinced that something like co-pilot, train on a large dataset of code that contains all manner of dated code, will lead to something similar, if not worse.
I am optimistic that we will be able to get this fixed by open sourcing training data, I think it will be inevitably
