Word goes around: one village has a noon-wraith.

The villagers claim that's not true at all.

In a small glade there's a dubious set-up of racks and clotheslines all around the circumference. Well before noon they are stacked with empty mason jars and washed diapers.

You have to be fast if you want to provoke the wraith and run off unscathed but the village youth are in training.

The wraith burns with fury and UV radiation and is very good at disinfecting things.
